In a significant step towards improving access to justice, Training Portal is proud to announce the opening of its first Justice Centre in Kathu on 1 August 2025. This new offering will provide free legal advice to members of the local community, forming part of Training Portal’s broader Community Campus initiative aimed at uplifting and empowering communities.
The Justice Centre will operate virtually from a dedicated Justice Booth located at the Training Portal Campus in Kathu, allowing residents to consult with a qualified legal practitioner at no cost. This effort is being launched in partnership with national law firm PH Attorneys, whose involvement ensures a high standard of legal service and professional support.

Nigel Masalla, Legal Advice Officer in the Access to Justice Unit at PH Attorneys, will serve as the Centre’s dedicated online legal advisor. With a strong track record in both the public and private sectors and experience in areas ranging from family law to civil litigation, Nigel is well-positioned to offer accessible, solution-orientated legal advice to the community.
Legal consultations will be available via pre-booked virtual sessions that can be made on the Training Portal website, providing confidential and convenient access to advice on a range of issues, including, but not limited to:
- Civil and commercial disputes
- Family, child and maintenance matters
- Evictions and housing concerns
- Personal injury and road accident claims
- Criminal defence matters
- Deceased estate administration

This initiative coincides with global calls for greater access to justice, reinforcing Training Portal and PH Attorneys’ commitment to building stronger, more resilient communities.
“We believe that access to justice is a cornerstone of an empowered society, and it is part of the legal fraternity’s responsibility to improve such access. We believe the Justice Centre in Kathu and our support thereof will show our firm’s commitment to growing such access and empowering the community of Kathu,” said Lesley Mokgoro, CEO of PH Attorneys.
Danie Krige, Director at Training Portal, added that: “By launching the Justice Centre in partnership with PH Attorneys, we are taking an important step toward providing meaningful, practical support to the people of Kathu.”
The service will be available to all members of the Kathu community at no cost, with clear parameters set around applicable areas of advice. Bookings for legal consultations will open as of the beginning of August via the Training Portal website.
